Bruce: “I wanna ask you Mike… what are you going to put in that video you’re making? It’s not so much that I wanna know what your putting in the video but uhum…back in the days of uncle Dave and the other elders you talk to. I see a lot of guys, even our own people, they make fools of us. They are the ones that know. …. But what I’m getting at is.. I don’t want your video to make us look bad.. or make us look good. Just make us look the way we are. There are some things that you saw eh?… But only within those days you’ve been here. So don’t get your perception of the days that you’ve been here. There are lots of other native people out there .”
Jamie: “Don’t forget we’re still in process Mike… don’t forget that. There can be a long lasting effect in how your audience will perceive us and how that big audience has an effect on the policies made towards administering us as aboriginal people. With that in mind, that’s something to think about on your long journey home. You need to consider what kind of image you have of us and what are you going to tell the world about us. That can be difficult because sometimes people need to make money and have to put food on the table even though you question the ethics of selling your stuff to the media. That also counts for us aboriginal people. And this needs to be considered. It may, or may not, have an impact on our future. The future of my children!”
